Parrot Postage
The company I founded, a digital-to-print mail service that turns a message on a screen into real, printed mail. Built it from zero to first paying customers in under six months, all on a single React Native codebase.
Hi, I'm Mike
Right now I'm looking for my next role, running the search through a tool I built for it. Parrot Postage keeps going on nights and weekends.
About
My résumé looks like three unrelated people had it. I flew MV-22B Ospreys in the Marine Corps, went to business school at Chicago Booth, and spent most of it starting companies instead of recruiting for a bank. What connects them isn't a title. It's the same job each time: take a real problem and build the thing that solves it.
The constant across all of it is the team. In the Marine Corps, the flying mattered less than the crew you did it with. Building a company runs the same way. The part that matters is a small group where everyone's work shows up in the result.
Right now that's Parrot Postage, the company I founded. When I'm not building it, I'm usually writing about what I'm learning along the way, which lives on the blog, and the long version of the story is over here.
Work
The company I founded, a digital-to-print mail service that turns a message on a screen into real, printed mail. Built it from zero to first paying customers in under six months, all on a single React Native codebase.
The company I cofounded to make private businesses as easy to value and compare as homes on Zillow. Standardized pricing for a market that mostly runs on guesswork.
A space-manufacturing venture I cofounded out of Chicago Booth, making ZBLAN optical fiber in microgravity, glass that beats silica but can't be made on Earth. We placed 2nd of 65 startups at Booth's New Venture Challenge and raised $280K in investment.
